Episode 9: Tony Parana

Tony is an artist from a northeastern region of Brazil, called Bahia.  It is known for its colorful scenery, something Tony’s artwork  clearly portrays in his vibrant, vivid pictures. Tony’s work has been exhibited in Brazil, the US, and Europe.  Houston has been his home for several years and we are lucky to have him, since his goals and dreams involve giving back to the community.  Currently Tony is building a project that will make art making, performing, and displaying accessible to new audiences as it will be mobile and able to reach many different audiences.  The new project is called MASA, mobile art space for the Artists, whose mission is to create a mobile cultural art space from a 40ft shipping container. Check out more info and donate to this passion project at www.masahouston.com; listen to our podcast as Tony explains how it came about and how it is a project that is very close to his heart.  I enjoyed talking to Tony so much, he is so animated about his art, his MASA project and his Capoeira, something he explains to me in our interview.   Check out brazilianarts.org for more info.  LISTEN UP!!
